3. James Stone was of Elton, Derbyshire c1760. James died 23 Aug 1818 in Winster, Derbyshire, at 58 years of age. His body was interred 25 Aug 1818 in St John the Baptist Churchyard, Winster. He married Hannah Blackwell in St John the Baptist Church, Winster, Derbyshire, 1 Jul 1782. Hannah was born in Winster, Derbyshire c1762. Hannah was the daughter of Ephraim Blackwell {aka Blacca} and Elizabeth Smith. No baptism in Elton found for James but I'm fairly sure he is William's brother as two of James' children, Samuel & George, were witnesses at Joseph's (son of William) wedding.

His parents were married after he was born but later he seems to have used his mother's maiden name.

He married Sarah Newton in St John the Baptist Church, Winster, Derbyshire, 11 Oct 1819. Sarah was born in Winster, Derbyshire c1794. Sarah was the daughter of John Newton and Ellen Ashton. Sarah died Oct 1859 in Winster, Derbyshire, at 65 years of age. Her body was interred 11 Oct 1859 in St John the Baptist Churchyard, Winster. 1851: living in the same house he was living in in 1841 but his wife and two children are living elsewhere in Winster.

He married Hannah Vickers in St John the Baptist Church, Winster, Derbyshire, 16 May 1826. Hannah was born in Winster, Derbyshire bp 18 Jun 1797. Hannah was the daughter of William Vickers and Hannah Prime. Hannah died 13 May 1835 in Winster, Derbyshire, at 37 years of age. Her body was interred 10 Feb 1866 in St John the Baptist Churchyard, Winster. 1866 Catherine Orme found dead Feb. 7, having killed herself from the house beam - verdict of jury - temporary insanity.

Mary was born in Winster, Derbyshire bp 18 Sep 1807. Mary was the daughter of Joseph Wagstaff and Sarah Kinder. Mary died Feb 1886 in Winster, Derbyshire, at 78 years of age. Mary Stone - widow - lived & died in her own old house. She often used to wonder whether she or the old house would last the longest. The house was sadly dilapidated but although her sons offered to take her a better house in the village - nothing would induce her to leave the old homestead - she was the widow of Francis Stone - miner.

Thomas was the son of Thomas Burton and Rachel Keeling. 1841: listed under the name of his step-father Jackson.

Mary Moseley and John Hodgkinson had the following child:

John Titterton - lead miner, working at Mill Close Mine was killed being crushed to death by the falling of a large piece of limestone from the roof - weighing about 2 tons. He was unmarried & had worked at the mine many years. He was.....respected, being of quiet & retiring disposition. He was a constant attender at St. John the Baptist Church both at the Sunday & weekday service whenever his work would allow him to do so. He is greatly missed by his relatives, friends & fellow workmen.

Lydia died 12 May 1882 in Winster, Derbyshire, at 51 years of age. Her body was interred 15 May 1882 in St John the Baptist Churchyard, Winster. Did John marry again? He was listed as married in the 1901 census but Lydia died in 1882.
